Introduction

I am an experienced and qualified counsellor with a Diploma in Integrative Counselling.

I provide a safe and confidential space, and, with a warm, insightful nature I hope to help you to feel comfortable in your environment. My goal is to create a place where you feel you can build trust which will allow you to start exploring difficult and perhaps unwanted feelings in your life.

Environment

I try to create an environment where you feel accepted, unjudged and supported throughout our time together, whilst also empathising with the feelings and emotions that you bring into the room. I also try and stay true to my own feelings during our working relationship and will be congruent in my reactions with everything that you bring to each session.

The Sessions

Our sessions together are like a journey; a chance for you to explore unwanted and difficult emotions whilst feeling supported and safe. We will look at finding your inner strengths so that you can build on them and begin to utilise them in everyday life through self knowledge and awareness. By engaging in counselling, we can work together to develop various tools and skills to enhance your psychological well-being.

My counselling approach is Integrative which means that I draw on a range of therapeutic techniques in my work depending on what seems most suitable for you and your needs.

First Time

If you have never experienced counselling before the prospect of talking about yourself can seem somewhat daunting. I therefore like to use the initial session to assess and explore what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to get out of it. Most importantly, you can experience how I am as a counsellor and decide if my style is right for you.

BACP

I am an accredited member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) which means that I adhere to their code of ethics and framework for good practice. As required by the BACP, I am in regular supervision and follow an ongoing programme of continuing professional development.
